ACCOMMODATION For School Groups

Catalina Lake-Front Retreat and Conference Centre is conveniently located on the banks of Lake Macquarie, about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Hornsby via the M1. Located in a NSW state heritage parkland, providing a peaceful location with no houses within 1km, it’s an ideal venue for school group events.

This is not your typical school group accommodation; all our bedrooms are on one level under the same roof as our function rooms and dining rooms, and the entire building is securely lockable.

An absolutely unique destination that combines stunning natural beauty with excellent facilities, making it the perfect spot for school group functions. Catalina Lake Front Retreat and Conference Centre retreat provides a safe and inspiring environment where students can learn, connect, and grow with facilities to suit your needs.

Our securely fenced property has waterfront views and commercial cooking facilities for self-catering. Alternatively, we can organise catering options to suit your requirements.

I wanted to take the time to show appreciation for hosting us for our conference last week. Being our first national conference in 2.5 years, there was a lot riding on this event going well, and from the feedback of all the team, the delegates and others, we absolutely loved the venue, and truely appreciate the above and beyond effort put in to ensure our delegation had the best experience possible. I would also extend the gratitude to the help provided around the venue with our team, far beyond any venue manager has provided.

Perfect venue for our small youth group! We booked the Kookaburra wing for our group of 23 and it was perfect - plenty of space and all the equipment we needed at the facility. David (the owner) looked after us so well and was available any time if we had a question or needed assistance. In particular, the huge kitchen was really great for our self-catered group. We also made use of the proximity to the lake & they have kayaks available on-site!

Very well maintained clean place with plenty of beds and bathroom, kitchen, BBQ facilities. You can go for a lake swim near the jetty and go for a peaceful walk just outside the building and there is a big oval across the road for group activities. This is a lovely place and is a place to go back. Big thanks to David who had been flexible and informative to our group.

Bedrooms For School Groups

All rooms and bathrooms are wheelchair accessible, and our bedrooms have a pleasant outlook over parklands or the waterfront.

Our accommodation is a mix of large bunk rooms and smaller group accommodation rooms with 13 private rooms to suit teacher, chaperone and support staff requirements (1 or 2 beds in each private room).

All bedrooms have air conditioning, some have their own private ensuites, and some have shared bathroom facilities.

Group Bedrooms

Split across two wings, you can book the accommodation and facilities that best suit your school event needs.

The larger Pelican Wing accommodates 70 guests, and the smaller Kookaburra Wing accommodates 63 guests. All bedrooms in both wings have air conditioning.

Group Bedroom Options include:

10 Group Bedooms: with 3 or more beds
- 30 king-single beds
- 30 bunk beds (15 double bunks)
- 1 room with disability support facilities
6 Bunk Bedrooms: for larger groups
- 13 king-single beds
